Walker 7070 (Mk2)

SKU: JLG-0007

The Walker 7070 (Mk2) is type approved for all sizes of vessels and is normally recommended for larger vessels in excess of 500 GRT or with an overall length extending more than 50m.

It offers both forward and astern speed, with ranges from -20 to + 80 knots full scale and provides NMEA0183 and 200PPNM signals to other equipment.

The system comes with a separate electronic unit, P303 and an indicator, P1248, making it easier for a shorter cable run from the log sensor.

The electronic unit P303 is a rugged stainless-steel enclosure suitable to install near the log sensor fitted in one of the toughest environments at the bottom of the vessel. The NMEA or 200ppnm signal from the control unit P303 is not as susceptible to external interference, so a marine-grade data cable can be run longer distances to the speed and distance indicator P1248 in the bridge.

In addition, a built-in speed simulator and a built-in keypad for calibration come as standard.

The P1248 Log Data Display meets EN 60945: 2002 environmental and EMC requirements for shipborne navigational equipment. It is housed in a DIN 43700 pattern (Din144 x 144) case and has dimmer control. It is possible to install a log display outdoors with a suitable waterproof console supplied by the shipyard.

The display is based on OLED or Organic LED technology proven to reduce electricity consumption and provide a clear view of reading from a wider angle/distance regardless of day and night.

Built-in LED alarm at the back of the display for easy troubleshooting by operators.

Remote dimming unit P1275 is available as an option.

Adding an unlimited number of speed and distance indicators through a daisy chain connection is possible.

The electronic unit P303 is fully compatible with fixed (P57) or retractable (P99) speed log sensors housed in hull fittings, suitable for various hull materials, such as aluminium, steel and GRP/wood.

KEY FEATURES

  • Fully approved Speed log
  • Suitable for all sizes of vessel
  • Separate display and electronics unit for a more flexible fit
  • Shows speed through the water (STW) and trip distance
  • Expandable with additional displays
  • NMEA output for other equipment

RETRACTABLE LOG SENSOR

The steel hull’s retractable log sensor (P99) is supplied with the sea valve assembly (P98), which is tested to GL requirements. This arrangement allows future service for the log sensor while the vessel is at sea and thus removes the need for the vessel to enter drydock!

All log sensors * have a 50-metre cable to run to the electronic unit P303.

For the best performance, the recommended maximum distance for this run is 50m or shorter where possible.

* Its operating principle is that a low-frequency AC Electromagnetic sensor induces an electrical voltage in the seawater. Two electrodes in the sensor face detect this and then converted to a speed reading in the master unit. The distance run is calculated by accurately integrating the speed value with respect to time.
